Aaron Buerge, a banker and restaurant owner best known for his role as "The Bachelor" in season two of the long-running reality series, filed for personal bankruptcy this week.
Buerge says the bankruptcy is due to the collapse of a bank that held one of his personal loans and the financial impact this caused.
"I'm not in financial distress - nothing like that," Buerge told People Magazine. "Otherwise, I wouldn't be paying everybody. We've been making payments ... every month, but they've just been pushing to come after some private assets that I might have."
According to the court filing, Buerge listed $2.3 million in assets against liabilities in excess of $9.3 million, the news source says. His wife Angye was listed as a co-debtor on the bankruptcy petition.
Buerge is the latest in a long line of former reality television stars to face financial difficulties. In recent months, Sonja Morgan of the "Real Housewives of New York City" filed for Chapter 11 protection and "Survivor" winner Richard Hatch has also faced a number of tax issues.
