InCharge Debt Solutions, a nonprofit organization servicing the needs of consumers in the realm of bankruptcy, credit counseling, housing and personal finance education, recently announced it will be presenting at the American Bankruptcy Institute's 31st Annual Midwestern Bankruptcy Institute & Consumer Forum.
Set for September 16 in Kansas City, Missouri, the forum will serve as a meeting place for bankruptcy attorneys and consumers looking for a reliable source of information on credit, bankruptcy and personal finance.
"The American Bankruptcy Institute numbers released September 2, 2011, show just a 1 percent decrease in filings from July to August 2011," said Beth Mason, director of Outreach Programs for Bankruptcy Services at InCharge. "So, while year-over-year numbers are encouraging, there were still 113,432 consumer bankruptcies last month and we're not out of the woods yet."
InCharge also showcased a similar presentation at the Hudson Valley Bankruptcy Bar Association-New Deal for Consumer Bankruptcy Seminar held recently in Hyde Park, New York. Consumer credit counseling and other debt resolution alternatives have gained popularity in light of the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005 that made it more difficult for filers to qualify for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection.
