Keeping in Contact

One of the frustrating things about my clients is being able to get in contact with them. Before you file their case they will call you frequently to make sure everything is going okay. It seems that once the case is filed they think that is the end and they no longer need to stay in contact with their attorney.

The last two weeks my paralegal and myself have been trying to get in contact with one of our clients to find out why they missed two 341 Hearings. The 341 Hearing is mandatory, and the Trustee has now filed an objection to their confirmation based on the fact that they did not attend the required 341 hearing.

If the clients do not contact us and give us a good reason they did not attend either hearing and go to a hearing before the judge and explain, the Trustee will have their case dismissed. We have called and left numerous messages on their home number, their cell phones are not working, and they are not responding to the emails we have sent.

I managed to talk to the wife, but she was at work and said she would call me back at lunch. She has not called back and I cannot get in touch with her once again. It gets frustrating to try and resolve issues when you cannot get needed answers from the clients. Just because the case is filed, doesn’t mean the attorneys will no longer need additional information or an important issue that comes up they need to discuss with their clients.
