Co-Signers and Bankruptcy

IF possible never cosign on any thing for anyone. By doing so you are just as responsible for the debt just the same if you have the idem as the other person. If it was a car and that car was reposed You or that person will have to pay the difference of what that car sold for and what was owed. IF a credit card you owe all the debt.
If that other person files a chapter 7 and discharges the debt they did that for only them selves you still owe if they do a chapter 13 that is better because they will be paying some of the debt through a plan and the creditor can not bother you. If they do a five year plan the debt will be taken care of for both of you. On your credit yes if will show that that debt is involved in a bankruptcy but not you so its not that big of deal. SO again if you can keep from it do not ever cosign for anyone.
