That is not what the attorney said….
I have had my fair share of clients that call me to help them out and give them options of what they can do. They then argue with me to let me know “that is not what the attorney said.” I am frustrated with this line. About five of my clients have done this to me this week. What am I, incompetent? I don’t think so and I know that I am not. I know the law as it relates to bankruptcy just as well as the attorneys do and know what clients can and can not do. I feel like these clients should take that into consideration. I feel like I am nothing when they don’t take my word and say “that is not what the attorney said.” Many times you find that they misinterpret what they were being told by the attorney and interpreted it the way the want to. The clients who did not want to take my word, I told them they needed an appointment to come in and talk to the attorney. Surprising enough they were told the exact same thing I told them. That is why I get frustrated. At the end of the day I try to let it go and not let it bother me. After they are told the exact same thing I told them, I feel like they should apologize for doubting me and not trusting what I had to tell them.
