When you file a Chapter 7 case, you have a trustee that oversees the case, which is just another attorney. You also have a US trustee that oversees all the Chapter 7 cases that are filed. They ensure that no one is abusing the system and making sure that the people who are filing a Chapter 7 are supposed to be filing a chapter 7. If they feel that you are abusing the system, they will send a letter to your attorney to let them know that they want additional paperwork. Your attorney should get with you to let you know what items you need to get this taken care of. If you provide all the documents that they request, most times they will let your attorney know that they are not pursuing it further and you have done everything you needed and can finish the Chapter 7. If they do pursue it further, they will file a motion with the courts to force you to convert your case over to a Chapter 13. If you have any questions about this, consult your attorney immediately. Most times when this happens the case does get converted and you end up having to pay back some of your unsecured debt.
