Pre-Bankruptcy Debt Education Requirement
Taking a debt education course before the filing of a bankruptcy is required by law. This doesn’t mean you have to pay A company money to try and settle or make payments to and let them pay your creditors. In most cases the course that takes is an on line course 1 to 2 hours to complete. The course is there to help you look at the different options of ways to pay your creditors when something has changed in you income.
They talk about trying to get a loan to pay all the creditors, talk about using a credit card counseling company, talk about a debt settlement company and then about the different kinds of bankruptcy that are available to you.
After going through the course you call and talk to one of the counselors and a certificate is issued. Your bankruptcy attorney can set this class up for you or you can set your own.
